GOLD FILLED
There are laws in most countries in the world that stipulate what the thickness of gold is required to be before an item can be labeled "Gold Filled", My expectations of “Gold Filled” would be at least 100mil = 3 micron approx. But unfortunately there are people on the internet calling a basic gold plated item as a gold filled (especially on EBay). This does not help the legitimate Manufacturers/Resellers/Wholesalers as myself whom sell the true product.
SOLID GOLD LAYERED
Once again, there are laws in most countries in the world that stipulate what the thickness of gold is required to be before an item can be labeled "Gold Layered". My expectations of “Gold Layered” would be for the gold to be at least 75mil = 2micron approx in thickness.
GOLD LAYERED
My expectations of “Gold Layered” would be for the gold to be at least 50mil, or a minimum of 25 mil
my research as also led to this “Gold Layered” label as being referred to as “Rolled Gold”
GOLD PLATED
In my opinion anything less than 50mil is a waste of time as it will wear off over time, chip, or even flake. Gold plated is often found on EBay and is usually only of the thickness of between 5mil – 25mil.
There are many people whom sell gold plated/layered/overlay/filled with a life time guarantee. Such sellers are able to do this because they put a clear coating on the surface of the product which increases its life expectancy, however often it is items that have little gold in or on them.
Our offer of a Life Time Guarantee is a testimony to the great quality of our product.
MICRONS vs. MILS
Here is a conversion Calculator to help you understand the thickness's that I have been referring too.
